SKYLINE is a line (or more than one line) of helium filled balloons in the sky; a hybrid windsock-kite that morphs into different shapes as it plays in the wind.

Individual 17 inch diameter latex balloons are attached to a single monofilament line at 6 foot intervals. This line is tethered to the ground at one or more points, attached at the end to sturdy, custom built wooden bases. The sculpture acts as a detailed ground wind profiler, highlighting the ever changing direction and speed of the wind at different levels above the surface of the ground.

After dark, light emitting diodes are attached to the bases of the individual balloons, creating a visual effect of a string of lights rising high above the ground, into the heavens. At times, small lightweight bells, originally designed for fishing purposes, are attached to the line to create a soothing, low volume chime sound element to the sculpture.
